Place and Activities

Beautiful landscapes, excellent lake-side location, and many hours of sunshine make Krumpendorf at Lake Woerthersee to what it is – a place of recovery and recreation for young and old! Krumpendorf is located in sunny Carinthia, directly at the shores of Lake Wörthersee, with a length of 19.5 km the province’s largest lake that stretches from the Carinthian capital Klagenfurt in the east to Velden in the west.

Krumpendorf was first mentioned in records in 1216, back then still referred to as “Chrumpendorf”. The name “Chrumpendorf” is affiliated with the name “Krumpenfelferdorf”. “Felfer” is the dialect word for “Weide” (willow). The term “krump” can be translated with “krumm” (bent) and thus “Krumpenfelferdorf” meant nothing but “krumme Weide” (bent willow).

Today Krumpendorf is on the one hand renowned as recreation area with direct lake access, but also as a place with a great variety of leisure activities for every age group: from tennis to crazy golf, yoga, golf, water ski, wakeboarding to extensive walking and cycling trails as well as numerous horseback riding opportunities.
